Inside Space X’s Floating Oil Rig Spaceport

Inside Space X’s Floating Oil Rig Spaceport

Elon Musk and SpaceX recently purchased two oil rigs that will be converted into incredible floating spaceports for SpaceX’s Starship. SpaceX has named the oil rigs Phobos and Deimos in honor of Mars’ two moons. The sea-faring launch pads for the SpaceX Starship cost $3.5 million each, and SpaceX will spend millions more converting them into spaceports. Each of these spaceports will be equipped with a launch pad, elevator, access arm, fuel tanks, control room, and enough space for a

Starship and Super Heavy Rocket Booster. Here’s a detailed look at what one of these floating spaceports will look like. We will take you underneath the structure to see the fuel tanks and give you a sneak peek at the control room and storage room. Every detail of SpaceX’s floating spaceport will be uncovered. This is what it will be like when you travel to Mars from one of these oceanic spaceports. Inside the control room, you will see engineers and flight controllers hard at work. We will show you how spare orbital launch mounts are brought to the main deck, and take you on a tour of the elevator and access arm used to enter the SpaceX Starship. As you ride the elevator to the top, you can look out over the ocean and see the main deck of the SpaceX spaceport from above. This is your first-hand tour of SpaceX’s floating spaceport. In a few years these things will be everywhere. Keep watching to see all the details.
