Hydrogen, China and the future with Mercedes CEO
Mercedes Benz CEO Ola Källenius gives an inside look at the role electric and renewables will play in the changing automobile landscape.
“It’s very clear that for passenger cars, the main road is battery electric vehicles on that path towards zero emission. But hydrogen will play a role in the general energy transformation. So as we move away from fossils and we seek new storage mediums for energy, it’s obvious that hydrogen will be one of them. It’s going to be used in industry, for instance, for steelmaking,” Källenius said.
2023 marked a big year for Mercedes Benz in terms of renewable energy, selling more than 222,000 fully electric vehicles; 11 percent of the company’s total trade volume, and Källenius says it’s just the start.
